Since joining the BBC R&D department in London in December 2001, I focused my efforts in 3 main areas:
Project Management
Work in this area includes:
Developing and Managing projects that use Mixed Reality Technologies to enhanced BBC Studio and interactive TV Productions.
Ensuring buying in and participation of several BBC divisions.
Managing cross-discipline project teams involving also people in senior management at other BBC divisions.
Research and Research Management
Work in this area includes:
Research in the areas of Augmented and Virtual Reality to enhance TV production, Authoring of Interactive content for 360 degree commission for interactive TV and Immersive Virtual Environments.
Collaborative research projects with HITLab, Fraunhofer Institute and IBM Yorktown Heights Research Centre.
Linking to international groups and organisations such as ACM SIGGRAPH and becoming candidate for EUROGRAPHICS. Supervision of 1 German PhD student, Publication of 5 Internal BBC Papers (confidential) and 1 BBC White Paper.
Consultancy
Expert Evaluator of the European Community IST Call 7 Programme, Action Line 4.2 Mixed realities and new imaging frontiers.
Technical consultancy and participation in the Origami 5th Framework European Project on the BBC part.

Organizing the AFRIGRAPH (African Graphics Association) and co-Chair the 1st international conference in Computer Graphics in Southern Africa
Consulting companies and organisations on Virtual Reality solutions.
Research
Work in this area includes: supervising of 5 MSc and 1 PhD (all completed), publishing 11 papers in the area of Virtual Environments and developing a longer term research strategy for the department
Teaching
Teaching focuses on: 3rd year undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Computer Graphics and Virtual Environments,
including developing curricula and teaching materials
